Dongfang Tianjie, second son of the late mad general "Divine Lightning" Dongfang Hongjie, younger brother of the now Marquis of Jiangxia, Dongfang Tianlie.

The Marquisate of Jiangxia lay on the east coast, centred around the port of Jiangmen, at the mouth of the Xuan river, the most important seaport in all the Great Yin. The Dongfang clan who controlled the revenues and peoples of this region were one of the wealthiest draconic nobility in the empire.

Near the end of the Great Yin, the leader of the Dongfang Family, and Marquis of Jiangxia was Dongfang Hongjie, a formidable martial artist and well respected within the Yin court.

When famine struck the Yin, and the court in Longjing was unable to help, Baron Wu of Shang started his rebellion in the northern plain, cutting southwards through the heart of the empire. The dragon houses rallied around the Marquis of Sixia, Zhang Yujing, and entrenched themselves in the west of the continent. With his back to the eastern sea, Dongfang Hongjie could only lead his army on a brutal campaign westwards to join Zhang forces. Many of his clansmen fell, and he was crippled, losing his wings, but he managed to ferry his two sons and one daughter to safety.
